IDP nursery is a production nursery located halfway between Murrumbateman and Gundaroo on Murrumbateman Road, a thirty minute drive from Canberra or Yass and has been successfully producing plants since 2001.
The nursery is owned and operated by Iris Philp and Alison Ubels. Iris has a passion for the Australian landscape and indigenous plants. She has 25 years of experience in Horticulture. This includes 10 years working at the Australian National Botanic Gardens Canberra. She retired from ANBG to establish IDP nursery in 2001. Alison is a horticulturist and is equally passionate about native flora. She has a background in retail nursery work and several years experience as a gardener in private gardens. Her garden in Murrumbateman is largely dedicated to hardy native plants.
The nursery produces hardy native Australian plants for the local environment. The plants are sold in sizes ranging from plugs and
tubestock to 140ml pots. Occasionally some 200ml pots are available. The plants are not molly coddled indoors but are hardened off ready for the harsh local conditions. Iris and Alison are willing and able to provide planting advise as required.
Plants are sold at various local markets, biannually from the ANPS (Australian Native Plant Society) sale at ANBG (Australian National Botanic Gardens) or from the nursery by appointment. The nursery is surrounded by a native garden where you can view mature plants when you visit. If you wish to come to the nursery please contact us to arrange a visit.
